Manchester City’s legal battle over 114 charges could “go on and on” despite the club being found guilty, football writer Harry Harris has warned.
Speaking to GB News, Mr Harris said the worst-case scenario could involve a points deduction or even relegation, although he does not expect either punishment.
“Worst-case scenario, a points deduction, even relegation. But I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Instead, Mr Harris suggested imposing a substantial fine or transfer embargo, citing Chelsea as a precedent.
“Chelsea had a very similar guilty verdict, and they escaped only with a fine,” he said.
However, he acknowledged that financial penalties may have little impact on City given the club’s enormous resources.
Manchester City deny any wrongdoing in the matter and Mr Harris predicted they would launch an appeal.
“This is still going to go on and on,” the writer warned.
