The music industry witnessed significant milestones this year, with prominent names releasing new music and artists setting multiple Billboard records. While some emerging artists secured deals with major record labels, others made a mark on their own. Regardless of how or when fans discover new music, predicting the next big thing is always fascinating.

In today's world, artists have numerous ways to attract new fans, including viral TikTok hits, songwriting for others, TV competition shows, and social media engagement. Here is a list of buzzing artists to watch in 2023:

British trio FLO, although R&B girl groups were more popular in the past, showed that fans still appreciate the magic of three-part harmonies. FLO has gained a considerable following since their debut single "Cardboard Box" in 2022, featured on their EP The Lead. With performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and the 2022 Soul Train Awards, as well as their recent win for the BRITs Rising Star Award, FLO is poised to have a promising 2023.

Natalie Jane, a contestant in American Idol season 18, gained popularity through her song covers on TikTok, leading to a deal with Capitol Records. With her latest singles "Mentally Cheating" and "Ava," fans anticipate a full-length album in 2023.

Memphis rapper GloRilla gained a massive following with her breakout single "F.N.F. (Let's Go)," leading to the viral #FNFChallenge on TikTok. She signed with Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group and released her debut EP Anyways, Life's Great..., featuring the Cardi B-assisted single "Tomorrow 2." With a 2023 Grammy nomination, GloRilla could become hip-hop's newest "it girl."

Social media has always been an excellent tool for artists to promote their music. Country singer Bailey Zimmerman began posting original songs on TikTok in 2020, leading to successful singles such as "Never Comin' Home" and "Fall In Love." This helped him land a record deal with Warner Music Nashville. With his debut project Leave the Light On in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart and embarking on a tour, Zimmerman is one of the brightest rising stars in country music.

Sometimes, a co-sign from a prominent artist can help gain more attention. Bronx rapper Ice Spice released her breakout single "Munch (Feelin' U)" in the summer of 2022, which Drake put in rotation on his SiriusXM radio station. The song went viral on social media, leading to a contract with Capitol Records.
