Hola Funky Media listeners, it's Michelle/Essex here once again with this week's sorry news from the Costa Del Sol, and as the week's plod on, so does this bloody virus. It's like a bad smell the world can't seem to get rid of. I was sad to hear that you're all under lockdown once again in the UK. I hope this time it works out and does its job and that you're all safe and well and that we all get to celebrate some kind of Christmas with our loved ones this year, no matter where we are across the globe.

And as I told you last week Spain has entered into a new "State of Alarm" not as harsh as the one that we had back in March, but nevertheless a "State of Alarm" and I also told you that now it was up to the Provinces and Municipalities to put into place their own restrictions. So, here in Andalucia is how things are panning out.

Andalucia has now locked down its borders and is not permitting any travel in or out of the Province, and that is unless you have a valid reason to do so, until we are informed next. Now they're reviewing this on a 14 day cycle. So our next announcement is due on November the 9th. Once they've studied the number of cases to see if the number of infection rates have dropped and the hospital and ICU situations are normal ish. We will then know more. Despite some people here moaning about the current restrictions and let's face it, which country isnt ? I have to say I really do feel for the hospitality section, but personally I think the Spanish are doing the right thing. I have met tourists here that have told me they feel so safe here. So to me, that is really encouraging, right ? Truth is the number of cases where I live, are thankfully, extremely low.

So, regional borders are closed but international borders remain open, which means if you have a property here for example, you are still able to travel to the Costa del Sol, and of course if you're coming on a holiday. You just have to abide by the quarantine rules that are set up by your own government upon return to your country, unless you're traveling to the Canary Islands, which at the moment are deemed as safe areas. Now back to the Costa Del Sol, all bars and restaurants must close at 10:30pm and everyone must be in their homes by 11pm and we're back to the six people rule as far as get togethers are concerned, but not a lot has really changed since I reported last week. I have noticed a larger than usual police presence, which seems to be in the more popular sorta hotspot and they are pulling people for not wearing the obligatory masks. I've also noticed people in businesses, asking people to mask up if they don't appear to have one on but I gotta say that's very rare here because for the most part people are being very respectful and abiding to the rules and regulations here. Now the municipality of Malaga is not doing as well as we are further up the coast here. They've had a bit of a jump in numbers. One of the hospitals in Malaga is reporting a 45% increase in the last 10 days. So they're watching that situation very carefully. Unfortunately, it seems like we're going to have to live with this for a while to come.

I was also saddened this week to hear that Remembrance Sunday has been canceled this year. A tradition that was first observed in 1919 throughout the British Commonwealth to commemorate the Armistice Agreement that ended the First World War on Monday November 11th, 1918 at 11am. This is 101 years on, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Maybe not have the usual crowds but surely some elected officials could lay wreaths at the Cenotaph or anywhere across the country to be honest where this is done. I'm a firm believer that we should never forget our fallen and the brave men and women that gave their lives in service to our country.

And while I'm on the subject of Remembrance Sunday. I found it completely insulting and wrong, that Tim Davey the boss of the BBC and his producers forced Naga and Charlie to remove their Poppies within seven minutes of being on air on the BBC Breakfast Show, one morning last week. Apparently under new guidance, any BBC figure who works in News or Current Affairs will be barred from expressing their personal opinions on politics or other controversial subjects. Now I get that completely on air. I understand that, the BBC is wanting to appear impartial .... Suddenly !......... sorry any Auntie supporters out there but I mean, their personal social media accounts as well ? Whatever happened to freedom of speech ? Has this been tampered with too ?and all this for 157 50, a year. Absolutely shameful !! I realize these celebrities have followers, but they have a life too, and freedom of speech is still a democratic right, isn't it ? and while I'm on the subject of democracy.....

I was completely shocked to see Joe Biden's rally bus, almost run off the road by a converge or should I say convoy of vehicles of Trump supporters last week in Texas. Thank goodness Biden and his wife weren't on board the bus but unfortunately, there were people on that bus just volunteers and aids. I mean, I find that absolutely disgusting. Biden had to cancel one of his rallies, because he wasn't safe. Never in all my years have I ever seen an election, like this one. To try and run a man or other innocent people off a road, just because you disagree with their beliefs is completely bonkers !! Now, I am not suggesting in any way that this was arranged by Trump, I'm not saying that at all. However, he did address it in one of his rallies yesterday saying "Oh you know, no big deal, there were just a few cars and trucks with flags, American flags. Trump flags". Let me tell you something, I saw the video. It was outrageous, his supporters are completely nuts. I'm sorry but they are. I speak weekly to a good friend of mine who used to be the Head of a Law College in California, until he retired to Florida, and he told me verbatim. "America is going crazy". That to me is so sad. Can imagine Boris Johnston and Kier Starmer going handbag to handbag at dawn come the next British election. What's in all things that are holy is happening in this mad world ?

With the love and fondness I have in my heart for the US of A. that was my home, California for so many years, I pray that the election goes well for them on Tuesday and America once again becomes the "Land of the Free" and the "Home of the Brave" minus, any anarchy from the head cases that want to run an innocent man of a road because he's a candidate in an election, Dreadful !!

Right. I'm going to stop ranting at you now, cos you know I can't leave you with that. I have to give you something to lift your spirits and you know how I have a bit of a penchant for crazy news stories. So, I'm gonna leave you with this one to ponder. You're gonna love this one......

A Doctor in India, this week, paid 72,000 pounds for an Aladdin's lamp, after tricksters faked a genie. Seriously !! These guys sold the lamp to him, THE DOCTOR ....and they promised him it would bring him health, wealth and good fortune. Now it turns out that the genie was a second con man who was in on the swindle.

Errrm what's that Sherlock saying ? ....well what a surprise ! Dr Leeak Khan, A DOCTOR..... Did I mentioned that he's a DOCTOR ? told the police in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, that's a trickster who pretended to be an occultist made a genie appear from the lamp, so convinced was our DOCTOR that he buys the lamp takes it home, and the genie fails to appear. He then realizes he's been a victim of an audacious scam and contacted Police, oh you mean like those pesky phone scams ? When the Microsoft Engineers phone us up, like like those kind of scams ? like, Indian scammers ? Ha, really ? they'll do anything. I sort of wondered how hard he rubbed it or had he rubbed it hard enough, or maybe, maybe was just rubbing it wrong but I bet that Copper was gobsmacked after taking his statement. I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face. I hope you haven't either. Oh my god I wonder what he is a DOCTOR of STUPIDITY maybe ? This is so out of Disney.

Well mis Amigos. That's me done for this week, God willing, and the rivers dont rise, I'll have some more moments of craziness from here in Spain for you, same place, same channel, next week. Until then, please stay safe everyone and as always, from me Michelle, Hasta Luego from the Costa del Sol.
