About this episode

The podcast is hosted by Ali Whelan and features Sam Wilson-Croft.

From hospitality, to HR to Charity Business Manager - Sam says it's never too late to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. Sam’s career in hospitality and training spans over 30 years, starting her tourism journey as a receptionist in the 4 star Flemings Hotel in Mayfair and over the next 18 years worked in some of London’s leading 4 and 5 star hotels, including The Rembrandt, Knightsbridge and The Washington, Mayfair. During that time Sam worked her way up from Receptionist to Revenue Manager. In 2006 she relocated to Pembrokeshire to join St Brides Spa Hotel as Reception Manager and started her Human Resources journey.

After a couple of years, Sam took a break from hospitality, working for Safe Haven Training, where she continued to develop her training and Human Resources qualifications and experience. Through her qualifications Sam is an Associate Member of the CIPD.

In early 2016 Sam joined The Retreats Group, which operates three of Wales’ leading luxury boutique hotels, Twr y Felin Hotel, Roch Castle and Penrhiw Priory. Sam started as Front Office Manager and Human Resources Manager, progressing into a pure Human Resources role in 2018.  Sam has a passion for HR and team development and has been instrumental in recruiting and retaining top class talent.

In 2021 Sam had another change of career to work for Shalom House, a day centre for people with cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Her current focus is on accounting, fundraising and overseeing two charity shops.
