Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman will undertake a State Visit to the United Kingdom later this month, from October 20 to 22.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will host the three-day programme, with Windsor Castle as the main venue.
The Sultan will touch down at Stansted Airport on Monday, October 19, a day ahead of the official proceedings. The visit will feature a full ceremonial welcome, a State Banquet, political engagements in London, and a tour of one of the capital’s most prominent post-Olympic development sites.
The formal programme begins on Tuesday with Prince William meeting the Sultan at his residence before the pair travel to Windsor together.
A ceremonial reception will take place at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road, where the King and Queen will greet their guest as Royal Salutes are fired in Home Park and at the Tower of London.
A carriage procession carrying the Sultan alongside the King, Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales will then make its way through Windsor town to the Castle.
Upon arrival in the Quadrangle, the Sultan and King Charles will inspect a Guard of Honour, accompanied by the playing of both nations’ anthems.
After lunch in the State Dining Room with members of the Royal Family, the Sultan will be shown a specially curated display of Oman-related items from the Royal Collection in the Green Drawing Room. That evening, a State Banquet will be held at Windsor Castle, with both the King and the Sultan delivering speeches at the start of the dinner.
On Wednesday morning, the King and Queen Camilla will see the Sultan off as he leaves Windsor. He will then head to London for a meeting with the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street.
That evening, the Sultan will attend a banquet at Guildhall, organised by the Lady Mayor and the City of London Corporation.
The Duke of Gloucester will join him for the occasion. Both the Sultan and the Lady Mayor are expected to give speeches to close the dinner.
The Sultan’s final engagement on Thursday will take him to Here East, situated within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Originally the Media Centre for the 2012 Olympic Games, the site was transformed in 2014 into a flourishing economic hub and is now regarded as one of the world’s most notable examples of post-Games regeneration.
