Princess Eugenie declares husband Jack Brooksbank is the ‘best Dada’ in heartwarming tribute

Princess Eugenie has marked eight years of marriage to Jack Brooksbank by posting a heartwarming video on Instagram showing him tenderly cradling their infant daughter Adelaide.

The couple’s third child, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, arrived on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal, where the family have a home.

In the clip shared on Tuesday, Mr Brooksbank can be seen gently rocking the newborn while stroking her head, in what Eugenie described as a touching father-daughter moment.

The anniversary post comes eight years after the pair tied the knot at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in 2018.

Accompanying the video, Eugenie penned a warm tribute to her husband: “Happy 8 years married my love.

“What you can’t hear in this video is Jack asking our daughter if she likes her head being massaged that way… so thoughtful, caring, and best Dada there is to our 3. Couldn’t have wished for a better partner.”

The caption revealed a detail viewers would have missed; Mr Brooksbank was quietly speaking to Adelaide during the tender moment, asking whether she enjoyed the gentle head massage.

Eugenie’s words painted a picture of a devoted father who brings attentiveness and warmth to his role as parent to all three of their children.

The Princess of York has previously explained that her daughter’s name honours “three people we love and admire past and present,” with connections to both English and Portuguese heritage – “two places we love and call home.”

The middle name Elizabeth is a nod to Adelaide’s late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The first name carries historical significance in that Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen served as Queen of the United Kingdom and Hanover from 1830 to 1837, as consort to King William IV.

While the origin of “Annina” has not been officially confirmed, Eugenie is known to be close to Countess Annina Bruges von Pfuel, a Bavarian costume designer whose 2024 wedding to Caspar von Veltheim she attended.

Adelaide’s arrival marked a rare instance of a British royal being born abroad, reflecting the family’s strong ties to Portugal.

The couple’s elder sons, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in 2021 in London, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, who followed in 2023, have already embraced their new sibling. Eugenie has affectionately referred to “Augie and Ernie” as “already the best big brothers.”

Publicly celebrating her husband is something of a tradition for the princess. On Father’s Day in June, she shared photographs of Mr Brooksbank holding his sons’ hands, calling him “the best there is” and “chief child entertainer.”

Eugenie, the younger daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, is currently 12th in line to the throne.
